Damar is a member of the KTP2JB expert committee nominated by the Indonesian Ministry of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs. He actively educates the public about digital rights, cyber policy, digital literacy, online security, and artificial intelligence.

With over 15 years of experience in the communications industry and 10 years in public policy, Damar is passionate about educating netizens about internet law and policy, social media, artificial intelligence, and online freedom of expression.

Damar is passionate about the responsibility of digital platforms in creating a peaceful, democratic, and human rights-respecting internet space.

He initiated the formation of the DAMAI (Democratization and Content Moderation in Indonesia) Coalition, a joint civil society forum for safeguarding a peaceful internet, supported by UNESCO and the European Union, in October 2022. In 2023, he founded the Southeast Asia Collaborative Policy Network (SEA CPN) as a regional forum for content moderation and digital platform responsibility in Southeast Asia.

After becoming the executive director of SAFEnet, Damar began working as a part-time lecturer at the Veteran National Development University (UPN) in Jakarta, teaching Digital Politics and establishing a research institute called PIKAT Demokrasi.

He previously worked in advertising at Leo Burnett and McCann.

Damar received the Mental Revolution Award in 2023 and was recognized as one of the 100 global technology changemakers by Rest of World in 2022. He also received the Indonesian Press Council Award for his commitment to press freedom in 2021.
